The title and lede for any non-news story: aren't they just about a bunch of bored subs who weren't invited out to the staff pub but had to lunch at airless desks so competed to find the heading that pulls in the most Likes? At the Guardian it became a bloody (not swearing) contest.
I suppose you can't take any notice of the headline but Twiggs posed the question 'have we reached peak gastropub?' in the body of the article. With so much activity in the gastropub scene over the last couple of years, I just can't think of a worse time to be asking that, it makes no sense.
Indie gastropub piece: well I’m afraid this is just how features sections function… I can almost hear the half-assed conference pitch based on some quote someone noticed while frantically skimming the papers beforehand.

Tom Parker-Bowles: his mum aside, just why?
It's so annoying because there's an interesting piece to be written about gastropubs, but this certainly isn't it.
I really can't decide who is worse, Sitwell or TPB. It's a close run thing every week.
